Recreation

The City of Hinton has taken a giant leap forward on recreation for its residents and visitors alike.

The first step was the construction of a skate park with the help of a grant from the Tony Hawk foundation and some local dollars the city was able to build a nice skate park for the locals to hone their skills.

The city then received an extremely generous private donation to build a swimming pool and other enhancements to the City Sidetrack waterpark. The City Council decided by popular vote to use a design of a train suggested by City Manager Cris Meadows for the swimming pool.

The pool was completed in July of 2010 and recent renovations to the bathhouse and concession stand were completed on July 5th, 2011. The pool is a great addition for the locals and has been a tourist attraction for the area also.

The City of Hinton has received the donation of 40 different pieces of workout equipment and is now planning on developing a fitness center. They are currently housing it in the technology center were construction will begin soon on the fitness area.

And that's just in town, venture outside of town just a few miles and you'll find parks, rivers, a lake, and a wildlife management area. If you like to be outside Hinton is the place for you. Biking, hiking, hunting, fishing, whatever outdoor pursuit you enjoy you'll find it here.
