Hinton has seen a past full of excitement and growth; and the present is full of enthusiasm and perseverance. A new day has begun for Hinton and Summers County with people visiting and enjoying, sharing our natural beauty, our history, our recreation, and our business and industrial growth.
We are busy growing our economy by developing our technology infrastructure and tourism opportunities.
The Hinton Technology Center building was dedicated on August 11, 2006 by Senator Robert C Byrd and Congressman Nick Rahall. The new infrastructure helps to connect Hinton and other small rural communities to the rest of the world.
Congressman Rahall, who assisted to obtaining funding for the building, spoke of the great potential for jobs in the technology arena that will help improve the lives of families in the future. This building is a key anchor for the Connected Technologies Corridors. He stated that technology is one of a three-part approach to economic development in Southern West Virginia: Transportation, Technology and Tourism.
Visitors can easily enjoy the town's turn-of-the-century architecture via walking tours or driving through the streets of the historic town. Since 1987, community leaders and the National Park Service have been working together to revitalize Hinton as a living museum. We encourage you to visit Hinton and see what you've been missing.
